Description
An archive of German soldier’s postcards, 1917-1918, from Germany, Poland, France, and Russia. Included are 79 postcards written with pencil in a tight German script. Each has military postmarks from Siauliai, Lowicz, Kovel, Ostrowo, Berlin, Lotz, Frankfurt, Lukow, Lvov, and many other locations. A number are stamped “Brief Stempel, 9 Battorie Feld-Artillerie-Regt. 59.” There are also 44 postcards, many real photo cards, with writing, mostly on the back, but no postmarks.From the same archive are 108 unused postcards of the First World War from the German side. None have writing, though many are captioned. There are 46 real photo postcards showing tanks, planes, canons, plus death and destruction.
Together there are over 231 First World War postcards, from the German Eastern Front. (E-180B).
